Whilst Kings had always had an army of men protecting them, it wasn’t an official institution until Henry VII made the Royal Body Guard a permanent job role. Somehow, this fabulous ceremony has been taking place several times a week, full of pomp and circumstance and we’ve been too busy doing other things to make time to add it to our London itinerary.
